Peter Nelson is a Principal of LUC with 20 years experience of dealing with EIA.
In 1976, Peter acted as project manager for the EIA of regional water resource options for the North West Water Authority, including giving evidence at public inquiry. The methodology formulated and applied in this study is still taught in universities and on Government training courses today as one of the best examples of good practice. He subsequently presented evidence to the House of Lords Environment Committee on the UK response to the first EC Directive on environmental assessment. Since this time, he has co-ordinated the preparation of a number of environmental statements.
Peter also led LUC’s work for the EIA Division of the former Department of the Environment (now DETR), culminating in the publication of the good practice guides for preparing environmental statements and evaluating environmental information, and led a Conference and Workshop on EIA held in Bulgaria in 1995.
Peter regularly lectures in EIA at the University of Bradford, and is an external examiner at the University of Manchester and Oxford Brookes University. Peter would provide specialist advice to the team on EIA.
