BA(Hons) MLI

Martin is a landscape architect and Principal of LUC.  Since joining LUC in 1983, Martin has undertaken a broad range of consultancy and design projects across Scotland and other parts of the UK.

Martin has specialised in urban regeneration which has included townscape studies and the design/implementation of public realm and urban park projects.  These have included the £6million public realm project for Glasgow’s International Financial Services District and the £5.5million renewal project for the streetscape of Inverness City Centre.  He has also developed expertise in heritage landscape/townscape projects which has included work on 50 sites within the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland; the production of many conservation-management plans for urban parks, country parks and stately homes.  The latter has addressed 28 of Scotland’s premier designed landscapes including Hopetoun House, Pollok Estate, Dunkeld House and Skibo Castle.  This has also included several successful applications to the Heritage Lottery fund.  In addition, Martin has led design projects within sensitive rural areas including the award winning ‘Kilmartin Glen Project’ in Argyll and the ‘Rowadennan Project’ within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.  Martin has also led 8 regional Landscape Character Assessments and a number of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments for developments within both rural and urban contexts.

Martin is an award winning designer, a lead Monitor on behalf of HLF and a guest lecturer.
