Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA)

Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) assesses the potential effects of a development on habitats and species protected by national and international legislation. It is an integral part of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Land Use Consultants has a team of professional ecologists that can provide habitat and protected animal species surveys for EcIA.

With over 35 years of practical experience of working with developers as masterplanners, landscape designers and environmental managers, wherever practicable, we aim to provide informed ecological guidance at an early stage of project development to help ‘design out’ avoidable ecological impacts.

We have extensive experience in:

  • preparation and review of ecological impact assessments

  • design and implementation of protected species mitigation, including DEFRA licences for mitigation of development impacts on species protected by European law

  • Public Inquiry representation
