Tourism and recreation are important sources of income in most parts of the world, but can damage and degrade both the local and global environment.

Our approach

LUC’s specific interest is in the promotion of green and sustainable tourism and informal recreation initiatives that help bring local benefits and stimulate environmental conservation and enhancement. Much of this work has strong links with issues associated with improving the local economy, amenity, social exclusion, immobility, health and transport.

We undertake:

• Preparation of guidance at a national, regional and local level on sustainable tourism and recreation
• Audits, strategies and feasibility studies
• Business and management plans
• Design and design guidelines for tourism and recreation activities
• Monitoring and evaluation
• Assessment of organisational structures
