LUC has recently undertaken a range of landscape sensitivity / capacity studies for renewable energy development including the award winning landscape capacity study for wind turbine development for West Norfolk and Kings Lynn and Breckland District Councils. In assessing the project the judges commented:
"Extensive development of wind turbines will have a major impact on treasured landscapes in Great Britain and what Land Use Consultants have achieved is the development of a system of assessing and evaluating these impacts. In giving this award the jury commends the approach adopted for wider use on similar developments elsewhere in the country."
We also have expertise in developing methodologies for assessing the sensitivity of landscape to other forms of developments including, other forms of renewables and residential development.
Our experience includes:
- Landscape sensitivity and capacity studies for wind turbine development
- Landscape sensitivity to other renewables, including biomass and small scale hydroelectric schemes
- Landscape sensitivity studies for protected landscapes
- Developing methodologies for assessing sensitivity and capacity of both landscape and townscapes
- Studies of built development potential.
