Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment

Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) is a fundamental part of environmental assessment.

LUC undertakes LVIA for a wide variety of developments including renewable energy schemes, industrial developments, residential developments, transport schemes, recreational developments and visitor attractions.

We are experienced in developing methodologies for LVIA and are the authors of the Landscape and Visual chapter of the forthcoming 3rd edition 'Methods of Environmental Impact Assessment' (edited by Peter Morris, Ricki Therivel, Spon Press).

We also provide advice on mitigation and input to the project design. The process of LVIA includes digitally modelling the Zone of Visual Influence (ZVI) of the proposed development and preparing photo-realistic photomontages to illustrate proposals. All aspects of LVIA are undertaken in-house.
