International

Land Use Consultants has played an important part in the development of EIA, SEA and related assessment tools at an international level over the last 15 years.

The work has been led by Peter Nelson; a well known participant in the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) and an expert on the application of SEA in sub-Saharan Africa. Projects and SEA processes have included:

  • SEA on Water Use in Catchment in South Africa
  • SEA of Forestry Potential in the Eastern Cape, South Africa
  • SEA of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy
  • SEA and related techniques in Tanzania
  • SEA of the Gibraltar Development Plan

In addition to these national and regional-level processes, support has also been provided to multi-disciplinary teams involved in international development cooperation in Eastern Europe and Asia, including:

  • Support to training programmes of the Central European University, Budapest on SEA and EIA in countries in transition and in Asia (Mongolia)
  • Protected Areas assessment in China
  • Assistance on integrated rural development programmes in West Russia, Hungary and Bulgaria.
