Kate Ahern

Kate Ahern is a Principal of LUC and a Landscape Planner/Manager. She has excellent knowledge of landscape planning and management issues derived from a wide range of policy research and practical projects. Kate leads LUC’s portfolio of landscape character assessment work in the London office, and has worked on a wide range of relevant projects. She has a particular interest in the application of characterisation to local planning and management and has prepared a number of local authority landscape character assessments that have been developed as SPG/SPD and fed into local policy.

Kate has good knowledge of landscape and visual issues having acted as Principal in-Charge of the recent award winning landscape sensitivity study for West Norfolk and King’s Lynn and Breckland District Councils. She has expertise in using the technique of landscape assessment to help determine sensitivity and capacity for change including wind turbine development and housing allocations. She is also skilled in facilitating stakeholder consultation to aid decision-making.
