Jon Grantham

Jon Grantham is a Principal of LUC and a Chartered Town Planner with over 20 years experience of all aspects of spatial planning work. This has included policy formulation and appraisal, detailed negotiations for various planning permissions and agreements, and giving evidence as an expert witness. Before joining LUC, he had spells working in Central Government and for Forest Heath District Council in Suffolk.

Jon has advised a wide range of clients, including the European Commission, the UK Government and devolved administrations, statutory agencies, regional assemblies, local authorities and voluntary groups, along with numerous private developers and investors. He has particular expertise in the water, minerals, energy and education sectors, and been responsible for securing planning permission for many large-scale projects. He also manages national framework planning contracts on behalf of Natural England and the Environment Agency.

Jon has extensive experience of environmental impact assessment (EIA) and has successfully managed many complex EIA developments, including a proposed golf course at Rabat on the Island of Malta, a major new reservoir development in southern England, numerous wind energy projects, and major school expansion projects in sensitive environments. In a private capacity, he lectures on the Environmental Assessment and Management Masters Course at London South Bank University, he chairs the RTPI Partnership Board for Anglia Ruskin University, and he is an external examiner on the Joint Distance Learning postgraduate degree in town and country planning. He is also a qualified Football Association (FA) coach!
