Profile

Jeremy Owen, Principal, has over 15 years’ experience in planning.   A specialist in sustainable development issues and their relation to land use planning, Jeremy has recently advised on regional spatial strategies for the East of England, East Midlands and South West.   He also produced the landmark guidance on sustainability appraisal on behalf of the government.

With a passion for the environment and its relationship with the economy, Jeremy has a good head for figures and was formerly an accountant before moving into planning.  His views are widely respected and Jeremy was commissioned to research this area for influential environmental bodies and regional development agencies.  He also works on strategic policy and environmental impact assessments.

An excellent speaker, Jeremy has spread the environmental message to engage stakeholders for clients such as the Royal Town and Planning Institute, Department for Communities and Local Government, Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, regional assemblies, county councils, and the Environment Agency.  Jeremy has worked on several European partnership planning projects including assessment of land use and transport in Copenhagen, and approaches to sustainable development in the Netherlands, Italy and Greece

Jeremy was recently elected to fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in recognition of his “long-standing career in planning and [his] expertise in sustainable development issues and regional spatial strategies in the East of England”.
