Construction begins on £35m Heartlands project
Transforming a derelict mining site in Pool, Cornwall into a beautiful landscape of parkland and gardens
Land Use Consultants (LUC) is pleased to reveal that work has begun on this major regeneration project in Pool, Cornwall. Lead landscape architects on the scheme since 2006, we are working with Cornwall Council to deliver a landscape that is accessible and inspirational, as well as a model of sustainability.
The team has worked directly with the local community to develop the designs that will transform Cornwall’s most derelict urban area into a truly inspiring sustainable development.
With all the preparation now complete, the 60-week programme of conservation and construction on the 19-acre site started on 21st July.
Cornwall Councillor for economic regeneration, Carolyn Rule, said: “There has been an incredible amount of work and commitment required to get Heartlands to this stage in its development, not just from the Council-led project team, but also from the local community here in Pool. Heartlands is fundamental to the area’s social and economic regeneration and I look forward to seeing work begin to transform this derelict site into what I know will become a facility much loved locally and an example of a truly sustainable community.”
