Profile
Robert Deane, Principal, is an expert in rural development and heads up the team in our Bristol office. Robert has managed research projects on the role of rural businesses in local economies, communities and the environment. His experience covers environmental standards in farm assurance and rural development schemes and agricultural constraints on renewable energy and other alternative crops.
Providing guidance on the provision of advice to farmers and land managers, Robert has undertaken evaluations of European Union structural fund and rural development programmes in England and Wales.
A strong understanding of rural landscapes, and the role of land management in determining landscape character, underpins all of his work.
Previously at the National Farmers Union, Robert was their policy advisor in the south west of England. Robert was also the farm conservation advisor for Herefordshire and Worcester Farming and Wildlife Advisory Groups.
