Plans submitted for West Dunbartonshire’s first wind farm

Plans submitted for West Dunbartonshire’s first wind farm
Plans for what would be West Dunbartonshire’s first wind farm have been submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council by Lomond Energy.

LUC carried out a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Landscape and Visual Amenity Impact Assessment and Ecological Impact Assessment for the proposed up to 25MW scheme.  Detailed ornithological, noise, hydrology and traffic assessments were also undertaken as part of the EIA process.  The windfarm comprises ten turbines and associated tracks and infrastructure and is situated in moorland adjacent to Auchencarroch Landfill site near Dumbarton.

The site is located close to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and extensive consultation was carried out with the National Park Authority, as well as with other consultees including Scottish Natural Heritage and the Council, throughout the EIA process.
