The project will conserve, enhance and interpret the rich and diverse heritage of Epping Forest for current and future generations.
To achieve this vision, we established policies on history, access, trees, open land, environmental sustainability and health and safety. These will be realised through capital works and revenue projects.
Projects include development of the Coach Houses and courtyard as an interpretation centre, improvements to access (trails, picnic areas car parks and gateways), implementation of a forest grazing strategy, development of a structured education programme for local schools and arboricultural conservation work.
LUC built up a close and effective working relationship with the Epping Forest officers to secure funding for a project worth £6.4 million. We coordinated a team of specialist sub-consultants to ensure that all aspects of the project were adequately addressed.
The development of a structured education programme for local schools and an engaging volunteer programme will ensure that this wide-ranging project reaches into the surrounding community and beyond.
