Kildrummy Wind Farm Landscape and Visual Expert Witness Services

Kildrummy Wind Farm Landscape and Visual Expert Witness Services

LUC was asked by RWE npower to provide landscape and visual expert witness services for a proposed wind farm in Aberdeenshire. The wind farm will help Scotland meet its renewable energy targets.
LUC worked as part of a fully integrated team with the client, legal advisors and expert witnesses in the preparation of evidence for the Inquiry. It was essential that our updated landscape and visual assessment, cumulative assessment and evidence were robust, accurate and consistent with other subject areas to ensure the Reporter had all the evidence needed to make a decision. The project was consented upon appeal, on the basis of the evidence given.
LUC is now helping RWE npower to meet Planning Conditions on landscape and ecological grounds, so as to reduce landscape, visual and ecological effects in so far as feasible, at the same time as capitalising upon other benefits such as habitat enhancement.
RWE npower was pleased with the result and with LUC’s work which led to a positive decision for the project. This is reflected in the fact that LUC was subsequently commissioned to help RWE npower meet the Planning Conditions, which should then enable the wind farm to be constructed.
