Heritage
LUC has an extensive portfolio of heritage projects which spans over 30 years. Working closely with landowners and managers to ensure solutions are practical and viable, we have led the way in the protection, conservation, and management of historic landscapes. We have addressed a broad range of heritage landscapes including World Heritage Sites, designed landscapes, conservation areas, urban parks and gardens. Our clients in this field consequently include government agencies, private landowners, charitable trusts and conservation organisations.
We offer planning advice, research and appraisal services, heritage landscape assessments, conservation- management and landscape design services. Our work spans from policy level to contract implementation and is informed by multi-disciplinary expertise in planning, conservation, archaeology, ecology and land management.
Our careful approach uncovers the story behind each site and seeks to celebrate this within the conservation or development process. Many projects involve development within heritage landscapes and these allow LUC to add value by ensuring they fit sensitively within context, allowing 21st century design to complement the historic setting while providing facilities which are relevant to contemporary users and which bring economic benefits to their guardians.
We use GIS and other technology to explore and quantify changes that have occurred over time.
