LUC has long been at the forefront of developing methodologies in key areas of strategic landscape planning, including landscape character assessment and its applications, landscape and visual impact assessment and green infrastructure planning. We have played a key role in embedding the landscape agenda within spatial planning, for example, through our work in implementing the European Landscape Convention. We frequently provide training workshops to key staff in Government Departments and Agencies and often sit on steering groups, overseeing new national guidance, such as that on Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (Landscape Institute and Institute of Environmental Management).
