Landscape and seascape character assessment is used to advise clients on appropriate actions for responding to, managing and guiding change, including in relation to protected landscapes. At LUC we undertake national, regional and site-specific assessments, as well as preparing methodologies, guidance and policy. We also develop and train, and facilitate consultation events and workshops.
Landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) is a requirement for many Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs). We advise developers and planning authorities on the effects of development and how these can be reduced, influencing siting and design from feasibility stages through to application. We assist clients with meeting planning conditions and guide landscape design, management and compliance with envionmental requirements during implementation. We regularly act as expert witness at Public Local Inquiries.
Using GIS, we present findings visually as maps and diagrams. Our digital designers produce valuable decision-making tools and 3D modelling to help clients visualise future landscapes, and to understand predicted visibility of new features.
