Greener towns for healthier people
LUC leveraged digital communication tools to partner with Ceredigion County Council and develop Green Infrastructure (GBI) Action Plans for six towns.
Our goal? To create a network of green and blue spaces for a healthier, more climate-resilient future.
Enhancing resilience to protect the environment
LUC's digitally driven, web-accessible approach paves the way for Ceredigion's towns to become greener and more resilient.
Residents will benefit from improved well-being, while the environment gains vital protection from climate change.
The strategy itself is accessible online, adhering to WCAG guidelines, so everyone can learn about the plans.
Building a GBI network, virtually
Through accessible online platforms and data analysis tools, LUC assessed and presented existing GBI assets and future challenges for each town.
This included mapping green spaces, analysing flood risks using online resources, and proposing solutions like wetland creation via collaborative digital workshops, ensuring all participants could contribute regardless of location or ability.
Prioritising beneficial projects
LUC's online collaboration tools facilitated the prioritisation of projects with the most significant impact.
These include creating wetlands to manage flood risks, introducing urban greening to revitalise town centres, and establishing green corridors to promote active travel.
Stakeholder feedback was incorporated through online surveys and virtual meetings.
A foundation for future funding
The GBI Strategy, developed through effective digital communication and prioritising web accessibility, serves as a roadmap for securing funding to deliver these projects.
With LUC's support, Ceredigion's towns are well on their way to a greener, more resilient future.
