LUC speaks at “8 Golden Minutes in Glasgow” event
LUC’s Kate Wigley spoke at a prestigious event held by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) entitled “8 Golden Minutes in Glasgow” last week.
Kate has over 13 years’ experience in undertaking environmental impact assessments (EIAs) of energy infrastructure, including large scale onshore wind and high voltage overhead power lines. She spoke about her thoughts on the implications of the Scottish Government review of the consenting process for energy infrastructure, focussing on the EIA related implications of the review.
Attendees came from a variety of IEMA member organisations, including Mouchel, Atkins and Network Rail. Kate’s presentation gave attendees a useful insight into the Scottish Government review and the potential implications for organisations involved in the energy industry.
Our Director of Environmental Planning Joanna Wright helped to organise the event, using a clever concept of short talks to encourage debate and lively discussion. Six speakers each had ‘eight golden minutes’ to talk about an interesting area of ecology and the environment. Some of the topics included amphibian surveys, difficult waste streams and a local community clean up project.
