Engaging with faith groups and planning for faith facilities
LUC is pleased to be working with CAG Consultants on a study of local faith groups and faith facilities on behalf of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, an east London borough with a rapidly growing population.
Similar to our previous work in Northampton and Oadby & Wigston, the study will develop a profile of the borough’s faith communities and facilities and involve an assessment of future need for faith facilities. This will be captured in a database which can be updated by the Council in the future.
The study will form an important part of the evidence base for the emerging Local Plan and outputs will include a new policy for engaging with faith communities and planning policy recommendations on meeting the need for facilities of different types, with a particular focus on the role of major redevelopment areas. This evidence gathering and policy development work complements LUC’s wider experience of social infrastructure and green infrastructure planning.
