Beth Houston wins ECLAS Outstanding Master Student Award 2022
LUC is proud to announce that Beth Houston, Consultant Landscape Architect, has won the ECLAS Outstanding Master Student Award 2022.
This award honours landscape architecture students who have demonstrated excellence in the field.
Manchester School of Architecture, where Beth studied, said:
“Beth was a wonderful student who not only excelled on the course but acted as a catalyst for all around her. Not only did her enthusiastic and creative responses to briefs and opportunities throughout the course galvanised others to produce better work but she also led, supported and collaborated with others in workshops, group tasks, external events and study visits in many ways which made the whole year group more committed, creative and successful.
“Her work consistently went above and beyond what you would expect of a student through her commitment, passion and unique ability to engage with people and organisations at every opportunity. Her final work used hybrid graphic techniques to communicate her ideas, which were always rooted in an insightful analysis of place and a direct, first hand engagement with local people and their landscapes.
“In its totality, her work represents one of the most complete investigations of landscape architecture as an agent of urgent social, ecological and environmental change yet encountered from a student on the MLA.”
This is a brilliant achievement and a highly deserved acknowledgement of the quality, range and quantity of work which Beth produced across her studies.
