LUC to improve biodiversity at Wormwood Scrubs, London
LUC is working with Hammersmith and Fulham residents to improve biodiversity at the Wormwood Scrubs open space.
We are carrying out the community consultation in order to produce a masterplan for the site, which will stimulate wildlife and enhance entrances to the Scrubs. The scheme is part of plans to offset the effects of constructing the HS2 rail line and will be implemented with LUC’s supervision in winter 2020.
The community event took place in White City at the end of October. Feedback will inform and inspire new plans for the area. Residents were asked for ideas on enhancements to create improved habitats that sustain and encourage wildlife.
The Scrubs covers 75 hectares and is recognised by as a site of natural significance. It is already home to a variety of species of plants and animals and our work will help them flourish.
