Blaby Landscape and Settlement Character Assessment published
The updated Blaby Landscape and Settlement Character Assessment has been published. The report was produced by LUC and is accessible here.
Blaby District Council commissioned us to produce this update to the original District Landscape and Settlement Character Assessment from 2008.
This update recognises changes that have taken place in the landscape and settlements since the publication of the previous study and to take account of changes in guidance. The assessment also encompassed a Landscape Sensitivity Assessment of residential and employment development scenarios. Our Landscape Planning team used a systematic approach of desk and field study to characterise the District’s landscapes and settlements and a criteria-based assessment considering both landscape and visual aspects to determine sensitivity.
The report will form an evidence base for policies and allocations within the new Local Plan. It will help guide development and management decisions.
This is a key part of ensuring the protection and enhancement of built and natural environments, managing sustainable economic growth and improving the health and wellbeing of local communities.
