The Broadwater Green community recently celebrated the grand opening of the brand-new play space, designed by LUC. This inclusive space caters to children of all ages, offering a vibrant environment for exploration, fun, and development.
LUC is thrilled to have played a key role in bringing this project to life on behalf of Peabody, who is leading the long-term generation of Thamesmead, London.
The opening event featured various activities for the whole family, including Easter crafts, planting workshops, willow weaving demonstrations, and face painting.

The play space itself incorporates a diverse range of equipment, encouraging both physical activity and imaginative play for all ability levels.
Natural play features like logs and boulders combine with more challenging and active elements such as climbing frames and slides.
The scheme offers a range of biodiversity enhancements within a beautiful woodland glade setting and encourages children to connect with nature.
"It's fantastic to have reached this point, to see the onrush of local children and families enjoying the new play space. It is such an amazing turnaround from how the area used to be when the scheme was originally conceived during the Covid pandemic."

This thoughtfully designed space goes beyond just play. It also incorporates an outdoor education space, nature explorer trail and space for children and parents to relax and socialise. The entire design prioritises accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring all children can enjoy the space.
LUC is proud to have contributed to this fantastic community asset. The Broadwater Green play space is not just a place for children to play, it's a place for families to gather, connect, and create lasting memories.
The space reflects the community's desires, transforming a much-underused area into a vibrant hub for play and outdoor activities.
