Camden Active Spaces featured at Museum of Architecture
This month, the Museum of Architecture launched a new exhibition which features one of our award-winning Design projects.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Well Built: Designing for Health and Wellbeing in Architecture’, draws upon the connections between design and health and wellbeing.
Our work on Camden Active Spaces – as landscape architects for the St Dominic’s and Argyle Primary Schools and Haverstock Secondary School playground schemes – has been included in this exhibition.
This project commissioned by London Borough of Camden, to help tackle one of the worst childhood obesity rates in London, where a third of all ten year olds being classed as overweight or obese, looked to transform several primary and secondary schools with uniquely designed structures to inspire children and young people to get moving more. A UCL team of sports scientists are also monitoring pupil BMI and physical activity levels through a series of fitness tests before and after the installation of the new active spaces. This will provide important data for understanding the drivers for physical activity with the findings published within the British Medical Journal, in winter 2016.
The free exhibition is running until November 29th between 10am – 7pm at the Museum of Architecture, 10 Thurloe Place, South Kensington, SW7 2RZ London.
