Camley Street Visitor and Learning Centre highly commended at Civic Trust Awards
We are delighted that Camley Street Visitor and Learning Centre has been awarded highly commended at the 2023 Civic Trust Awards.
Camley Street Natural Park is a nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the King’s Cross regeneration area.
Erect Architecture designed the HLF-funded Learning Centre. LUC provided the new landscape arrival experience and setting for the centre.
LUC’s designs included:
- a new landscape setting for the new purpose-built Visitor and Learning Centre,
- new outdoor seating,
- access for all,
- SuDS,
- rain gardens,
- wildlife habitats enhancing the unique quality of the Natural Park
The park has become a crucial green space adjacent to the vast redevelopment of Kings Cross. Since re-opening to the public in October 2021, over 98,000 people have visited, enjoying the café, nature reserve and on-site events.
