LUC’s Director of Ecology appointed to Chair of professional body
Earlier this month Steve Jackson-Matthews, LUC’s Director of Ecology, was appointed to the Chair of the Association of Environmental and Ecological Clerks of Works (AEECoW).
A founding member of the organisation, Steve has worked with its committee since 2009, helping to promote awareness of the Environmental Clerk of Works role. In recent years Steve has represented AEECoW at the Scottish Parliament and supported organisation such as CIEEM, SNH and Marine Scotland in the development of this important construction role. Most recently Steve was a co-author of AEECoWs ‘Environmental Clerks of Works – Good Practice Guidelines for Planning Authorities’ document.
Steve succeeds AEECoW’s original Chair, Professor George Fleming, one of Scotland’s most respected environmental engineers. “George leaves behind some very big shoes to fill”, Steve admits, “but the Environmental Clerk of Works is becoming an increasingly important construction role and we’re looking forward to developing the organisation over the next few years”.
