LUC to produce new Renewable Energy Landscape Sensitivity Assessment for Cornwall
LUC has won a contract to produce a new Renewable Energy Landscape Sensitivity Assessment for Cornwall.
This will update original work we completed for Cornwall Council in 2011 to understand the sensitivities of different parts of the landscape to wind energy and solar photovoltaic developments.
This contract will result in a new strategy for accommodating major renewable generation infrastructure in Cornwall’s landscapes. It will provide robust information to guide the council in allocating broad areas for renewable energy in their Local Plan, in line with the NPPF.
This project supports a new Climate Change Development Plan Document (DPD) which will help Cornwall work towards carbon neutrality by 2030.
We look forward to bringing our understanding of the need to adapt and strengthen landscape resilience to climate change to this project.
