LUC Bristol team enjoys CSER day coppicing in the Quantock Hills

LUC's Bristol Landscape Planning team recently spent a brilliant Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) day in the Quantock Hills.

We joined a hazelwood coppicing session organised by the Quantock Hills Partnership Scheme.

Armed with hand saws, gloves, and plenty of energy, we worked together to clear and cut, leaving behind neat stumps and a real sense of achievement.

The day gave us a chance to be outdoors and give back to the environment.

We wrapped up with a walk to the viewpoint at Cothelstone Hill. From there, we enjoyed sweeping 360° views north across the Bristol Channel towards Wales.

Having recently completed the Landscape Character Assessment of Somerset, it was especially rewarding to return to the Quantocks in a different context and experience the landscape through practical conservation work.

LUC encourages all colleagues to take part in CSER activities, supporting environmental projects, local communities, and professional development.

These opportunities help us learn, connect, and make a real difference.
