Duncan McLean speaking at GIA ‘Countdown to COP26’ Event
LUC’s Director of Landscape Architecture, Duncan McLean, is speaking at an event this week hosted by the Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA).
Duncan will overview LUC’s involvement with the recently completed Claypits project – a partially designated Local Nature Reserve in North Glasgow.
LUC’s input on the project has been extensive, beginning with an Access and Environmental Improvements Strategy for the wider canal corridor. This was accompanied by a Vision and Development Framework for the area between Applecross and Firhill Basins.
LUC then led the development of the Claypits Masterplan and associated design work, covering an area of 17 hectares. Thereafter, we acted as NEC Project Manager and Principle Designer during construction.
Last month, Paul Sweeney MSP brought a Motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating all involved in the Claypits’ opening. This included a reference to LUC’s contribution.
The event is part of the ‘Countdown to COP’ series run by GIA, and features Landscape Institute Scotland. Speakers will discuss the sustainability benefits of landscape architecture, covering themes of water, community, active travel and placemaking.
The event will take place online on Thursday 9 September. Sign up here.
