Duncan McLean to speak at RTPI Webinar

We are pleased to announce that Duncan McLean, Director of Landscape Architecture at LUC, will be a speaker at the upcoming webinar "Planning together to create successful communities", hosted by RTPI Scotland on 7 November 2025.

The event will run from 09:00 to 10:30 GMT / UTC+0, and is part of the RTPI’s World Town Planning Day 2025 online programme, celebrating how robust planning can empower communities and deliver inclusive, sustainable outcomes.

During the webinar, Duncan will discuss the Claypits project in Glasgow, a community-led regeneration of a post-industrial site along the Forth & Clyde Canal that has transformed into a vibrant urban nature reserve. The project demonstrates how collaborative planning and sensitive design can reconnect people with nature, enhance biodiversity, and celebrate the city’s industrial heritage – turning an underused site into an inclusive, accessible space for all.

Duncan brings a wealth of experience to the session. He is qualified as a Chartered Landscape Architect and a Recognised Practitioner in Urban Design, working across scales from strategic planning to detail design. At LUC, he leads inputs on complex, multi-disciplinary projects and has directed high-profile public realm and green infrastructure schemes.

Other confirmed speakers include:

  • Laura Robertson (RTPI Scotland Convenor)
  • Adiya Karsybek, urban planner from Kazakhstan
  • Professor Husam AlWaer, Chair of Urban Design, University of Dundee

The webinar is free of charge and open to both RTPI members and non-members.
