Ecology survey season is in full swing

Summer is here and LUC’s ecologists are making the most of the (relatively) dry weather. It’s another very busy survey season for us and, having grown our team earlier in the year, we’re now servicing projects the length and breadth of the UK.

From bats in historic houses in Caithness and water voles in Glaswegian motorway verges, to otters in idyllic canals in Wiltshire and obstinate badgers in London’s royal palaces; our ecologists are designing surveys that support our clients, in achieving sustainable development.

We’re delighted that, having established a new team of ecologists in our Bristol office, we’re off and running with projects in the South West. Most notably, our Associate Ecologist in Bristol, Jon Taylor, is leading on a number of strategic ecology projects, including a development project that will see us adopt the principles of biodiversity ‘net gain’, as a means of securing maximum development while achieving really positive outcomes for nature conservation.

Similarly, our new offices in Manchester and Lancaster have opened doors to new areas of work too and we’re excited to have been appointed to provide full-time ecological support during the 6-month ground investigation stages of a large scale energy generation project in Derbyshire.

With a few weeks left to the current survey season, there’s still plenty of time to get those last minute ecology surveys underway. Our teams are on hand to help you navigate the complicated world of nesting birds and uncooperative water voles. Just give us a call or drop us an email.
