LUC wins North Devon and Exmoor Seascape Character Assessment
LUC has been commissioned to undertake the North Devon and Exmoor Seascape Character Assessment on behalf of the North Devon AONB, Exmoor National Park Authority, North Devon and Torridge Councils, the National Trust and Natural England.
The study will cover the coastline from Marsland Mouth on the Cornish border to Minehead, taking in the lower reaches of the Taw/Torridge Estuary and extending out into the adjacent marine area, including Lundy Island.
This study will provide an invaluable baseline to help manage change in a way that conserves and enhances the special character and qualities of the coast and seascape which are valued by so many, as well as providing the foundation for the local visitor economy. It will be a critical evidence base to inform marine planning, protection and management, as supported by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). The report will be launched later in 2015 as part of the National Trust’s Neptune Coastline Campaign’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Having characterised the coast and adjacent marine areas of a large proportion of the England and Wales, LUC is now one of the market leaders in seascapes related work.
