LUC Landscape Architect completes research
Our Landscape Architect Samuel Cortis has completed his three weeks of travelling research across Europe.
After jointly winning the Scottish Landscape Institute’s Mark Turnbull Award last year, he received a £2,500 grant for overseas travel, in order the explore and research innovative Landscape Architectural solutions to challenges facing Scotland. He was awarded the prize based on his research proposal into collective and community-led urban regeneration.
Samuel’s busy itinerary took him to seven cities before the current COVID-19 lockdown, starting in Bordeaux finishing in Berlin with Lyon, Paris, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam in between. One of the greatest experiences for him was the opportunity of meeting with Landscape Architects in each country and learning more about their practice and philosophies. In between meetings, Samuel visited a range of ambitious and creative projects that put people at the heart of design.
The final report will be published next month and Samuel will present his finding at the Landscape Institute Scotland’s AGM later this year.
