Placefirst’s Farringdon Row project has recently been approved with LUC’s support. The project delivers the next phase of the Riverside Sunderland Masterplan and will bring 143 new homes, including townhouses and apartments, to revitalise the area. Focused on build-to-rent housing, it’s part of Sunderland’s ongoing regeneration, with work set to start by June 2025.

LUC has played a pivotal role in shaping the project, working alongside Placefirst and project architects IDP to craft a landscape scheme that harmonises with the unique environment. Positioned on the boundary of Sunderland’s dynamic urban setting and the lush green expanse of the river valley, the landscape design aims to blend urban life with natural beauty.

At the heart of LUC's proposals are shared community gardens, envisioned as vibrant green spaces for residents to gather, connect, and enjoy communal outdoor living. These gardens will serve as essential social hubs, fostering a sense of community and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

LUC's involvement in the project extends through RIBA 6, ensuring that our vision is carried forward into the delivery phase. Our expertise will guide the implementation of the landscape scheme, transforming the concept into a tangible and welcoming environment for the community.
