LUC to prepare Feasibility Studies for proposed greenways in Ireland
Offaly County Council has awarded LUC, in partnership with TOBIN Consulting Engineers, the contract to prepare Feasibility Studies for two proposed greenways in Ireland.
The proposed greenways are:
- Shannon Harbour, Co. Offaly, to Athlone, Co. Westmeath – via the internationally important monastic site at Clonmacnoise.
- Kilbeggan to Mullingar, Co. Westmeath – encompassing the townland of Lilliput, which inspired Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels.
The project is funded under the Irish Government’s 2020 Carbon Tax Fund. LUC’s Landscape Design team will undertake extensive public consultation and participation and has started with a ‘blank sheet’ in the examination of possible route corridors.
