LUC secures planning permission for new Felsted School teaching facility
LUC secured planning permission and listed building consent for a major new teaching facility at Felsted School, Essex.
The proposals comprise over 1,000 square metres of new teaching floor space and landscape improvements. The innovative new teaching facility includes 10 classrooms, a variety of breakout spaces and an exhibition area.
Heritage officers at Uttlesford District Council objected to the development. However, LUC’s Planning and Historic Environment teams were able to argue for the educational benefits of the scheme, helping to secure approval of the development. LUC also produced a Landscape and Visual Appraisal to support the application.
Our planners also helped planning officers draft the planning conditions so that enabling works could start immediately over the summer holidays.
Construction of the teaching block begins in the autumn and is due for completion in December 2020.
Felsted School is a leading boarding and day school in Essex for over 1000 boys and girls aged 4 to 18.
