Galashiels Transport Interchange opened
The £5.2m transport interchange in Galashiels was officially opened this week. Serving as an entrance to the new Borders railway, when services commence on 6 September, the transport hub will double as a bus station and gateway to the town centre.
LUC worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the project leading the design of the building’s public realm, and improved pedestrian connections between the railway station, buses and the town centre.
Councillor David Parker commented: “This is a landmark building for Borderers and visitors using the new railway from 6 September, and will also play an important role in helping the Council achieve its long term aim of promoting better connections between all means of sustainable transport.”
