LUC appointed to support Gavieside masterplan and planning application
LUC has recently been appointed to support Springfield Properties PLC in their planning application for a new residential development on the outskirts of Livingston in West Lothian. The proposal is for around 2500 new homes to be built on the site currently used for agriculture and previously used for mining.
LUC’s Landscape Architects and Planners will work together to create a landscape framework for the site. This will build on the existing masterplanning work already undertaken. We will develop concept proposals and detailed design for key areas of green space. This will provide further detail in support of the planning application.
Blue-green infrastructure, which is an integral part of successful placemaking, will be at the heart of our landscape framework. The green (and blue) spaces will be multi-functional and provide high quality open space which meets the needs of future users. It will also provide opportunities for habitat enhancement, improved access and water management. Our aim is to use these green spaces to connect existing areas of valuable woodland habitat on the fringes of the site and to celebrate views towards the 5 Sisters Bing, a local landmark and indicator of the areas’ industrial heritage.
