LUC prepares green infrastructure audits for Brixton and Stratford BIDs
Brixton BID and Stratford BID have recently published audits prepared by LUC on green infrastructure for businesses based in the areas.
The documents present detailed findings of existing green infrastructure and identifies opportunities to increase green cover. The green infrastructure (GI) features considered through these audits include:
- Parks and public green spaces
- Green corridors e.g. road and rail corridors
- Street trees
- Public realm
- Green roofs and walls
Brixton BID and Stratford BID will use our research to prioritise locations for the creation of new green features, and engage local businesses in funding and delivering these priorities.
We identified 37 opportunities to improve existing green features or to add new green infrastructure in the Brixton BID area and 40 in Stratford. We also mapped suitable buildings that had potential for green roofs and plant-covered green walls.
LUC’s Peter Lawrence said: “Having worked in Stratford since LUC’s input to the Olympic Park development – and having visited Brixton since I was a kid – it was great to have had the opportunity to work on these projects with the BIDs.”
