Glenlee Substation extension planning permission achieved
Planning permission has been obtained for an extension to Glenlee Substation in Dumfries and Galloway.
LUC’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Landscape Planning, Ecology and Visualisation teams worked together on behalf of SP Energy Networks.
The project is considered a ‘National Development’ as it is required to connect electricity transmission cabling over 132kV. We balanced challenging environmental and technical constraints to successfully steer the scheme through the planning and EIA process.
The substation forms an integral part of the wider Kendoon to Tongland Overhead Line Reinforcement Project which is due to be submitted to the Scottish Ministers this month after six years of LUC involvement.
