Granton Waterfront wins The Pineapple award for ‘Future Place’
LUC is delighted that Granton Waterfront has been awarded The Pineapple for ‘Future Place’ at the 2021 ceremony.
LUC supported the Development Framework for the project, including a Landscape & Public Realm Strategy and Habitat Regulations Assessment. Edinburgh City Council appointed LUC for the project, in collaboration with Collective Architecture.
Granton Waterfront is three miles north of Edinburgh’s city centre, situated on the banks of the Firth of Forth. The site comprises approximately 200 hectares of green space and parkland to the west, and around 50 hectares of potentially developable land to the centre and east.
The Development Framework encourages low-carbon transport, active travel and sustainable development. It will contribute to the wider regeneration of Edinburgh’s waterfront, by fostering a vibrant and welcoming coastal community.
The Developer and Festival of Place launched The Pineapples in 2019, in partnership with Design Council. The awards celebrate the best of UK architecture and placemaking.
Congratulations to the whole team involved. Learn more about the project here.
