LUC speaks about green bridges at Landscape Institute event
LUC’s Director of Landscape Planning Kate Ahern spoke at the Annual Landscape Institute Conference about green bridges and their role in creating a connected landscape.
The two-day event, held in Sheffield, was attended by a wide range of landscape professionals from the academic, public and private sectors.
Green bridges have the potential to contribute to a range of design solutions that can help to assimilate/integrate road or rail infrastructure into its surroundings and mitigate for residual impacts.
Kate presented the results of recent research with Natural England by LUC and drew on literature and case studies across Europe and beyond to set out best practice on developing bridges. The research has recently been published by the Landscape Institute.
