Scottish Ministers give green light to Chleansaid Wind Farm project
We are delighted to announce the successful approval of the Chleansaid Wind Farm project under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989. This consent, granted by Scottish Ministers, will allow the construction and operation of the wind farm within the planning authority area of the Highland Council.
The approved wind farm will comprise sixteen onshore wind turbines, featuring twelve with a maximum tip height of 200 meters and four with a maximum tip height of 180 meters. This will enable a generating capacity of approximately 96 megawatts, with by a battery energy storage system of around 20 megawatts.
LUC's Landscape Planning & Management team played a key role in preparing the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA), as well as creating the photomontages and visualisations. Their expertise has been instrumental in guiding the project design, to reduce potential landscape and visual effects.
With the approval secured, the next step involves addressing the Planning Conditions that were stipulated during the approval process. Once these Conditions are successfully discharged, the Chleansaid Wind Farm is expected to move forward to the construction stage, marking a significant contribution to a sustainable and clean energy future.
