LUC to produce Development Framework for Hagshaw Energy Cluster
LUC has been appointed to produce a Development Framework for Hagshaw Energy Cluster near the communities of Coalburn, Douglas and Muirkirk in South Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire.
The innovative framework will help shape the future of the cluster as wind farms are repowered, extended or optimised over time.
It will also explore the potential for other renewable energy technologies to be deployed, helping to deliver a Just Transition to Net Zero.
In addition, the framework will identify opportunities to enhance and invest in the local environment, communities and place. This includes delivering a low carbon future for local communities; providing opportunities for active travel and recreation, local employment and training, and nature enhancement; and minimising the environmental impacts of renewable energy development.
LUC is managing the preparation of the framework, and an online stakeholder engagement process will help to shape the document.
The consultation will begin in October 2021, hosted at: www.thehagshawenergycluster.co.uk
