LUC shortlisted for IEMA Sustainability Impact Award 2019
We are delighted to be shortlisted for an IEMA Sustainability Impact Award in the Innovation in Impact Assessment category.
The awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the practice and the delivery of excellent outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
IEMA recognises us for our efforts in embracing new EIA requirements to assess a project’s impacts upon climate change, the implications of climate change for impacts predicted and the vulnerability of the project itself to climate change.
LUC provides climate change assessments for a diverse range of EIA projects. To date, these have included a football stadium; a rugby stadium; a mixed-use development comprising residential, commercial and retail spaces; two sustainable settlements and several wind farms.
Unlike other quantifiable impacts, the complexity associated with climate change can be difficult to assess and communicate. We provide innovative solutions to approach this by translating abstract impacts into a project-level assessment.
LUC also employs technical climate knowledge to facilitate thought-provoking discussions with environmental specialists, project designers and developers on the links between new developments and climate change. This moves impact assessment forward and increases awareness of climate change in key sectors.
This is a fantastic achievement as the awards attracted a high quality of entries.
