Inaugural W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Lecture marks culmination of year of celebrations

LUC is proud to be associated with the inaugural W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Lecture by Roy Foster, held in December 2023.

The lecture, a fitting conclusion to the Nobel Centenary year, celebrated the renowned poet and his cultural legacy.

The year-long festivities included talks, walks, a Ciarán Hinds-narrated smartphone trail launch by Jeremy Vine, and the unveiling of Conrad Shawcross's 'Enwrought Light' sculpture. LUC was pivotal in obtaining planning consent for the W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Artwork Project, making these events possible.

Yeats, the only Nobel laureate poet raised in Britain, lacked a memorial until 'Enwrought Light'. The lecture by Professor Roy Foster, Yeats's official biographer, added a significant cultural dimension to the celebrations.

Cahal Dallat from the W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Artwork Project expressed gratitude for LUC's instrumental role in the success of the project. He highlighted LUC's professionalism, energy, and going the extra mile to make it happen.

"Working on the W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Artwork Project was an enriching experience. It's immensely rewarding to see the community embracing the sculpture, adding to the cultural fabric of Bedford Park."

The lecture by Professor Foster was a fitting tribute to Yeats, concluding a series of events that showcased the poet's lasting impact.

LUC is proud to have supported and contributed to the cultural enrichment of Bedford Park through the W.B. Yeats Bedford Park Artwork Project.
