LUC project wins gold at international Green Apple Environment Awards
LUC is pleased to announce that one of our projects has won a Green Apple Environment Award.
We led the Stage II Heritage Lottery Fund application for the revitalisation of the Eastcote House Gardens. The project was completed on site in May 2015.
Extensive renovations of the former stable block, restoration of the dove cote, a new café and volunteer facilities have turned the site around and ensured that Historic England has removed the site from their Heritage at Risk Register.
The gardens are particularly dependant on local volunteers who spend many hours every week tending the planting. This project has provided a new base for the increased numbers of volunteers, many of whom rely on the gardens for social contact and regular activity.
We received a Gold award this week at the awards ceremony.
Charmian Baker from Hillingdon Council said: “I put Eastcote House Gardens in for an award earlier in the year and am very pleased to say that it has won one!”
Ben Shakespeare, the LUC project manager, said: “It has been a privilege to work on this fascinating project and we are delighted to have won this prestigious award.”
