LUC’s Jessica Pearce to share energy career insights in upcoming webinar

LUC is proud to announce that Jessica Pearce will feature as a guest speaker at the upcoming "Choose Geography: Careers in Energy Transition" webinar.

The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) is hosting this online event in collaboration with the University of Plymouth on Thursday 15 January.

The session offers secondary school students and teachers a unique look into how classroom geography applies to the real world. It specifically targets GCSE and A Level students who are currently exploring energy as a resource.

Connecting the classroom to the workplace

Nick Smith, a Lecturer in Spatial Planning at the University of Plymouth and a former LUC Planner, will host the discussion. Nick will interview geography professionals who currently work at the forefront of the UK’s energy sector.

Our own Jessica Pearce will share her journey from studying geography at the University of Bristol to her current role in producing Environmental Impact Assessments for renewable energy projects and transmission lines. Alongside Jessica, the panel includes experts specialising in carbon reporting and renewable energy planning.

Why attend?

The webinar aims to inspire the next generation of geographers by highlighting diverse career paths. It also helps schools meet Gatsby Benchmarks 4 and 5 by linking curriculum learning to employer encounters.
